The
participation of young people will increase as the strength of youth structures
and ministries increase. By facilitating review, development
and implementation of National Youth Policies in each member country,
CYP Asia Centre contributes to an enabling environment for
the participation and empowerment of young people.
National
Youth Councils are a platform for young people to express their views.
Young people are empowered when they feel they are able to
make choices in their lives. NYCs are a positive way of strengthening
institutional approaches to address the needs of young people.
They
provide opportunities for young people to enhance their knowledge through
vocational training, cultural activities, sports and recreation.
They also create a supportive environment to improve good will and
understanding among young people living in different communities
in their respective countries and among the Commonwealth family
of nations.
CYP
Asia Centre is keen to help facilitate the establishment of National
Youth Councils or appropriate national bodies in countries
that may consider this option, and to promote and support existing
organizations. Partnerships among National Youth Councils
or National Youth Development Structures in member countries are
also encouraged as a means of creating better understanding
among young people about issues that concern them within the
region.
