Kishore Mishra, Regional
Director Raj
Mishra is the Director of the CYP Asia Centre in Chandigarh,
India. Mr Mishra, who was formerly with UNAIDS and India’s
Ministry of Youth and Sport, joined the CYP in June 2006.
“I
would like to promote greater awareness among the young people
of today on global, regional and national issues because of
the impact on their lives and future,” said Mr Mishra.
“I
would also like to facilitate greater contact and interaction
among the young people from Commonwealth Asia so that they can
exchange ideas, views and experiences that will help to broaden
their outlook. Volunteer work in another member country in the
Asia region can be a useful way of networking among the young
people as they learn more about how their peers live.”
Mr
Mishra, 55, stated that he will continue to expand the Commonwealth
Youth Credit Initiative to encourage entrepreneurship and greater
use of computers to promote e-commerce besides improving access
to communication, knowledge and information. He said the Ambassadors
for Positive Living programme, which through young leaders promotes
a greater understanding of HIV/AIDS transmission, is another
area that will be given a boost by the CYP Asia Centre as a
result of more community outreach programmes. |
